By Fareeha Sultan(巴基斯坦)

Located in ,Central Europe,Poland is a country with truly fascinating history ,great cultural heritage and several areas of outstanding natural beauty and is famous for its vodka, sausages, ginger bread and sheep milk cheese. In 'Foreigners in Wuhan' section ous second guesr this time is a frieng from Poland, Kinka Tlalka .She is living in Wuhan for one and half years. In an interview with《Wuhan Toursim》 she told us about her life in Wuhan .

Kinka:

Kinka:

Q:Hi Kinka ,thanks a lot for your time ,First of all tell us what brought you in Wuhan ?
A:I came here to learn Chinese language and know about Chinese Culture .For one year I studied Chinese language at Wuhan University. For some time I taught English at Wuhan University and now I am teaching at a French company.

Q:Have you been to other places also?
A:Yes, I have visited Beijing,Hongkong,Macaou,Guilin,Yangshuo, Chongxin,and Xi'an.

Q:Which places of Wuhan you have visited so far and which one is your favourite ?
A:Donghu,Yellow Crane Tower,Yangtze River,Guiyuan Si, Lots of villages around, have also seen Wuhan Opera.I like a small park in Hanyang for walk.

Q:What is your opinion about Wuhan?
A:It is really an interesting place. It is not like Beijing or HK. It is real China. There are lots of foreigners here.Lots of opportunities to observe true Chinese culture.Lots of facilities for sports . It is little bit polluted, traffic is horrible, weather is difficult to get used to but over all life for foreigners is not difficult here.People are nice and friendly .

Q:What are the things you find interesting in Wuhan?
A:There are many things .In the early days of my arrival here I saw that many people want to have a picture with my blonde hair and blue eyed friend ,it was quite strange for me . I saw here first time pants opened at buttock for small children , poeple wearing pyjamas in streets and doing shopping in fancy shopping plazas or girls in pyjamas but wearing branded shoes or carrying fancy handbags.

Q: Is there any thing you don't like here?
A:Some times people are rude or laugh if they don't understand me especially in the begining it was difficult. At times the behaviour in the bus surprises me that the young people don't offer seats to older poeple.People smoke even it is forbidden. They spit or throw rubbish every where, talk loudly. these are some things other wise over all people really are nice and friendly.

Q:How your life in Wuhan is different from your life in Poland?
A: My life in Poland was more busy. Life over all is different here in every aspect;food is different, the way people look at you ,speak to you is different. In the beginning it was really hard to cope with the fact that heating system is not every where .Coffee is different,.every where it is very expensive. It is impossible to get coffee at typical chinese resturants,It was even harder in university .Bread is not as good as Europe. There is not so good local yougurt,.it's too sweet but yue lai yue hao.In the first few months of my arrival here every thing was so exciting so different but now I am used to it and it seems normal life.

Q:How was the exeperince of studying here?
A: Method of teaching is completely different. There is no english at all.Teachers take more care of their students.Even at university they treat you like a primary school student. They ask every little detail like what did you eat, when you woke up etc and when I was teaching at Wuhan University my students expected from me the same.

Q: How would you compare students in Europe and China?
A:I think students in West are more independent and better prepared to face life than students in China?

Q:What is your every day routine ?
A:After i wake up , I get a cup of coffee. Infact coffee machine was 1st thing I bought in China Then I prepare for my classes,or learn Chinese.Three times a week I take home tution for Chinese. Then I go to teach. Usually because of my routine I have an early lunch .I cook by myself. After I come back from my work I learn Chinese or practice sports. There are more sports on weekends .I love bycycling and now some times I play basketball with my students. In summer I love swimming. If get free time then watch TV. Dinner is mostly with friends as we don't have our families here so I have a large group of friends and we dine toghether. Some times, we also go out eating. Two times a week I go shopping to buy groceries with my friends and on weekend go to Soho or Blue sky to dance.

Q:What is your favourite place to hangout?
A:It's a Japanese resturant near walking street. It's peace ful and the food is simply great.

Q:what is your favourite Wuhanese food?
A: Fish,Tiyu Ban Niu Ruo , Chao fan, Yang Chaung and tofu.

Q:What is your favourite shopping item and place in Wuhan?
A: I love to buy traditional Chinese silk clothes or small silk things ,wallet .Chinese dolls, My favourite place is Han Zhan Jie. I don't like walking street much because there are always so many people and its always noisy and which ever shop you go can't try any thing because the sales girls keep shouting at the top of their voice and it's exepensive too. Tailors in Yanzhi Shan are really good. They can really copy every design.I have some Chinese style clothes and some trousers made by them . I like go massaging as it is quite cheap and relaxing in comparison to Europe.

Q:What is the best thing in Wuhan ?
A:The people I met here and make friends with, especially my friends from university.
