Mrs. Mehmood (MM): I came because of my husband and I have been living here for six months now.
Q. When you heard that you have to go to China, what was your first reaction?
A. DM: Honestly speaking, my first thought was that if I would have got a scholarship for any Western country, it would have been better. but obviously, later it changed MM: I was bit apprehensive, but I guess not because I was going to China but because it was my 1st time to leave my parents ,family and country.
Q. Now Let's Come to Wuhan, how do you like it?
A. DM: It's quite a good city. I think as compared to Beijing, Wuhan, is more green. As soon as you enter in Wuhan, the greenery catches your eye. It has great scenic spots like Yangtze River, East lake .Then it has great number of universities, Wuhan University is ranked as one of the top universities in China and is also very beautiful. Over all institutions are up to standard. And not to forget Wuhan food especially fish.
MM. I like Wuhan .It is really a good place for shopping .I enjoy shopping here.
Q: So far which places you have visited In Wuhan?
A: Both: Botanical Garden ,River Side, Zhong Shan Gong Yuan , Moshan Gong Yuan, San Lin Gong Yuan , Hong Shan Square, and almost all the universities.

A. DM: East Lake
MM: Cherry flowers, though so far, i have seen them in pictures only. I am really looking forward to personally experience the cherry blossom festival this spring.
Q. Mrs. Mehmood this question is for you, you said you like shopping very much in Wuhan, which one is your favorite place for shopping and what in your view is best article to buy?
A. Hankou and my favorite item to buy are ladies bags. I believe that in ladies bags there is a lot of variety.
Q. What other places in China are in your itinerary to visit?
A: So far except from Wuhan we have just visited Beijing but we plan to visit Shangai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Guangzhou and Sichuan.
Q. What is the thing in your opinion, minus which, Wuhan would be perfect place?
A. DM: Wuhan's Traffic
Q. How you coped with the cultural and life style difference?
A. DM: obviously life in Wuhan or to say in China is quite different from what we used to live in Pakistan. Language was altogether. Different, food was different, eating habits were different. In the beginning it was quite difficult to use Kuaizi. so it was quite difficult to cope with, yet all settled with time, I managed to know a little Chinese , names of some Chinese dishes, mastered the use of Kuaizi, learned different bus routes, Chinese friends and those Pakistanis already living there also guided and it all settled with time. .
MM: Initially, it was different and difficult. In the earlier days of my arrival, I use to put a spoon in my purse, whenever we used to go out to dine. Language was also a problem which still is, but I hope with the passage of time i will learn some basic every day usage Chinese.
Q: Any interesting incident/experience you can recall while your stay here?
A.DM: In the early days of my stay in Wuhan, I along with some other Pakistani friends went to eat for the first time in a particular restaurant. We all were new comers and no one of us knew Chinese , most specifically the names of dishes and that restaurant didn't have a pictorial menu waiter was waiting for us to place orders and that poor soul was waiting for quite long time .Now what to do? As necessity is the mother of inventions so we also thought off a new method, we started having a round and looking what others are eating. We went to each table, which dish attracted us; we placed the order for it. Waiter had to follow us all way around. Most interesting was the impression of people eating there .They really could not comprehend what were we up to. Some seemed quite surprised and shocked but we were so engrossed placing orders that we didn’t explain the matter to them. Thus, we ate our meal. We all enjoyed not only food but also our little adventure. This still gives us a good laugh and most probably restaurant administration also realized the problem because next time when we went there, they had a pictorial menu.
Q: Would you like to say any thing in the end
A: We would like to give message of friendship, peace and love to all Chinese from us and on behalf of all other Pakistanis. We will always cherish the pleasant memories of our stay in Wuhan.
