Human heads are portrayed like the heads of parrots or wild boars or camels. Peculiar cultural works and processing techniques lead people wanting to know more about French arts into Wuhan Museum to enjoy the collection of French engravings.

Louis Abdon Boutelié’s (1843—1914) Etching and Engraving La Baigneuse Valpin?on (part) after Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres (1780－1867) engraves a plump and true-to-life character, presenting pleasant visual beauty. Marshal Francois Chauveau’s (1613－1676) Etching and Burin First Quadrille, Plate 1 Marshal Gramont, General Field Marshal depicts a running war horse with the General Marshal waving his sword, whose valor is displayed fully with the third dimension engraving, compelling universal admiration. Audran’s (1640－1703) work Coupole du Val-de-Grace (part) is said to be after a sketch of his brother Cotelle named “Jean Cotelle” which is after the work of Painter Mignard, which displays the skillful techniques of the artist. Except for character works, there are also flowers, birds, plants, and various architectures; all are fine engraving and eye catching.

Following the “Sino-French Cultural Year”, Department of Engraving Arts of The Louvre Museum, the French Réunion des musées nationaux and Tiantai Culture Media Production Co., Ltd., jointly display a collection of copperplate engravings of the Louvre Museum, introducing vividly charm of the history of the French copperplate engraving to the audience.

Since April 2005, the exhibition has been held in Chinese Hangzhou, Qingdao, China National Museum of Fine Arts in Beijing, Shanghai Museum of Fine Arts, Tianjin Museum and Shenyang Museum, lasting one and a half year, enhancing the Sino-French cultural exchange.

路易·阿卜东、布特里耶（1843—1914）根据让·奥古斯特·多米尼克·安格尔（1780－1867）的作品创作的腐蚀与雕凹版画《瓦平松浴女》（局部），体形丰满，人物形象栩栩如生，呼之欲出，让人产生美感的视觉效果。弗朗索瓦·肖沃（1613－1676）创作的腐蚀与凹线铜版画《第一骑兵队，雕版1总旅长德格拉蒙大帅》，战马奔驰，大帅挥动手中宝剑的勇猛形象，在有立体感的铜版雕刻中得到全方位的展示，令人肃然起敬。在《优雅谷教堂穹顶》（局部）这件作品中，作者奥德朗（1640－1703）根据被称为“挂毯高耐伊”的哥哥高耐伊之素描完成，而素描作品依据的绘画则是由画家米涅阿所作，作者娴熟的技术在这件作品中得到了很好的诠释。除了人物作品，还有花鸟植物、各种建筑，其雕刻之细微、令人赏心悦目。
作为“中法友好文化年”的延续，卢浮宫书画刻印艺术部、法国国立博物馆联合会和天泰文化传媒制作公司共同制作，通过展示一批卢浮宫铜版雕刻收藏馆版画，将法国雕刻铜版艺术史的魅力生动地展现在观众的面前。
自2005年4月起，该展览曾先后在中国的杭州、青岛、北京的中国美术馆、上海美术馆以及天津博物馆、沈阳故宫博物院等地展出，时间跨度达一年半之久，为推动中法两国文化交流起到了良好的效果。

卢浮宫是世界上最大的博物馆之一，以丰富、珍贵的文物著称于世。此次将展出的152件版画作品，是从卢浮宫13500件铜版雕刻作品中精选出来的，涵盖了法国从16世纪至今的沧桑历史，是法国古代和现代铜版刻印、版画的缩影，展示了400年来法国刻印和蚀刻艺术的演变脉络。其中，既有1830年路易?阿?萨尔蒙创作的传统版画《自由引导人民》，也有1997年路易丝创作的抽象版画《山湖》等。
