武汉科技馆位于武汉市江岸区赵家条，占地面积26623m2，建筑总面积15435m2。科技馆主要功能有科普展览、科技培训、学术交流、青少年科技实验、4D影院、天象厅等。
科技馆科普活动场所总面积8600m2，设置了儿童乐园、机器人世界、力学与机械、科学与生活、地球与宇宙、数理天地、信息技术、声与光、材料与能源、电与磁等展区。科普展品260多件（套），科技知识含量高，互动性强，融科学性、知识性和趣味性为一体，90%以上展品可有观众动手操作，部分展品属全国一流和首创。
展厅一楼巨大的落地玻璃门，一个由钢筋造形、约一人多高的镂空人像便迎面而来，隔着根根钢筋可见，此“人”脑内竟悬停着由各种齿轮、转轴组成的“脑组织”。
随着二楼工作人员的控制，这部机械大脑开始以目视可见的速度紧张运转。伴随着齿轮的活动。这部机器的名称很形象，就叫“动手动脑”，参观者可在二楼控制台指挥楼下的“人脑”运动，而与脑内机械相连的钢丝，便会牵动悬空的机械人活动。寓意“大手牵小手、动手又动脑”，“动手动
脑”也是整个科技馆的精髓所在——馆内所有展品均可供参观者亲手实验或体验。

馆内装饰品的7个机器人，6个相貌各异的机器人乐手，手持不同乐器，分别演奏钢琴、萨克斯、长笛、贝斯、爵士鼓和沙锤，而面对它们的则是一个机器人乐队指挥。乐队成员演奏的曲调或悠扬、或激烈，一会独奏，一会又合奏起气势磅礴的交响乐，随着曲调的变化，“乐手们”也“陶醉”地晃动着身姿。
这7个机器人手指、头、腰、腿、臂等几十个关节都十分灵活，通过腹内产生的气流及程序的控制，不仅可以模仿人做许多动作，还能非常灵活、准确地吹、拉、弹奏各种乐器。
