面对突如其来的地震灾难，市旅游局抗震救灾专班一方面全力保障滞川游客的安全，一方面心系灾区的灾情，积极组织局机关人员进行捐款，同时还大力发动全市旅游行业各单位开展抗震救灾募捐活动。截止目前，市旅游局机关人员共捐款18630元，募集到全市行业单位善款共计314万元。市旅游局表示，所有善款将统一交到市民政局，并且第一时间救援我省对口帮扶的灾区。

对于两位在地震灾害中不幸罹难的武汉游客，市旅游局大力协调有关保险公司，全力落实有关保障和善后安抚措施。担任承保的中华联合财险公司湖北公司积极支持，迅速决定按照旅游意外伤亡的最高赔付额20万元进行理赔，不计手续、立即支付。
这也是武汉市实行旅游保险统保以来，兑现的首笔旅游意外险种赔付。新的旅游保险条款从今年3月份开始实施，国内游意外险最高赔付额由10万增至20万。

由此，地震的灾难波及到了各地旅行社行业，国内游受到重创。武汉地区旅行社表示，目前，旅游业务眼下基本上都处于“赋闲”状态。业内人士称，四川九寨沟此前是武汉市民出游的热点线路之一，叫停后，损失惨重。而且往年这个时候，暑期市场也开始启动了，以北京草原游、青岛海滨游、香港等长线为主的产品都是热卖的线路，但是今年暑期，这些国内长线游也难以组团，估计就只能靠周边游和出境游来支撑。
业内人士分析，旅游业尤其是旅行社行业非常脆弱，抗击风险的能力较差，今年年初的大雪、五一长假取消、地震，一连串的事件及自然灾害给旅游业带来很大的影响，乐观估计年内旅游市场都难以恢复过来。

从4月底到5月中旬，市旅游培训中心对全市728名已取得导游资格证的从业人员进行了岗前培训，并就武汉市情为内容对每位学员进行了面试考核，本次培训理论课程设有：导游人员服务礼仪规范、职业道德与职业生涯规划、武汉市情、旅游意外伤害救护等，在户外景点实地培训方面，以东湖、黄鹤楼、归元寺等武汉市的主要景点为基础设计了培训线路，就导游带团的技能与技巧、导游带团的案例分析、导游的服务标准等方面采用现场讲解、模拟带团的培训方式，增强了课程的吸引力，加大了对导游人员的专业要求，保证了培训质量。
此次岗前培训在培训理念、培训形式等方面都是一次大胆的创新。
特点有三：
一是注重科学性与实效性的有机结合，学员可根据自身情况和需求选择室内理论授课和室外模拟讲解两种方式进行培训。
二是切实做好了旅游人才队伍的开发，对新导游的服务水平进行了再次考核并针对导游人员的工作岗位提出了相应要求。
三是工作人员服务当先，和所有学员融为一体，让学员在开心愉快的氛围中学习，在实战中积累经验，收获知识。

08年5月6日国家旅游局公布：
包括武汉木兰天池在内的70家景区，达到国家4A级旅游景区标准，湖北有9家景区晋升4A。他们是：
武汉市木兰天池旅游区、宜昌市清江画廊旅游度假区、钟祥市明显陵旅游景区、钟祥市黄仙洞、咸宁市九宫山风景名胜区、咸宁市赤壁名胜区、咸宁市龙佑赤壁温泉度假区、孝感市双峰山旅游度假区、恩施土家族苗族自治州利川腾龙洞风景旅游区。
景区A级评定与酒店星级评定一样是我国旅游行业管理的重要标准，目前国内景区最高等级的是5A，湖北省有黄鹤楼和三峡景区荣获该称号。连同本次晋升景区在内，湖北省4A景区总数达35个，其中有8个在武汉。

Nine scenic spots in Hubei are:
Tianchi Lake in Wuhan City Mulan tourist areas, Yichang City Qingjiang Gallery Tourist Resort, Zhongxiang City Mingxian Mausoleum tourist
destinations, Zhongxiang City Huang Cavity, Xianning City Jiugongshan scenic area, Xianning City Chibi spots, Xianning City-Long-woo Chibi Spa Resort, Xiaogan City Shuangfengshan Tourist Resort, Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Lichuan Tenglong tourist area.
As start-lever hotels, the highest level of domestic scenic spots is 5 A. Only Yellow Crane Tower and the Three Gorges area are meet 5A in Hubei.
With the new 9 scenic spots, 4A-lever scenic areas in Hubei total of 35, including eight in Wuhan.
